Teenager attacked by her ex- boyfriend with a knife

Sophia Putney Wilcox, a 17 year old teenage girl was relaxing at home in Michigan, when her ex-boyfriend Adam Shigwadja broke in to the house and attacked her with a knife.

She has since released photos of herself, after the attack, to encourage other women who are suffering from domestic violence to come forward.

Seemingly Adam had been unfaithful during the relationship and Sophia decided to end the relationship. Unfortunately Adam became angry and aggressive and he held a knife to the teenagers throat.

He was warned by Michigan US Police to stay away from her, but he ignored the warning and broke into her parents house seemingly with intentions to murder her and then set fire to her room.

Her brother was in the house at the time and overheard an intruder, he chased his sisters ex-boyfriend outside with a baseball bat.

Adam Shigwadja was arrested the day after the attack and Police are preparing to charge him with attempted murder and arson.

From her hospital bed, Sophia said: "I am just really lucky to be alive."
