A planning inspector has overturned a council's decision to reject a proposal for more than 100 new homes in Cheshire.
The decision by Cheshire West and Chester Council to reject a housing development proposal planned for the 10-acre Hill Top Farm site in Davenham, Cheshire has been revised by a planning inspector after the developer Russell Homes launched an appeal.
Speaking of the refusal in his report, the planning inspector wrote:
"None of these matters establishes that there would be harm which is significant or demonstrably outweighs the benefits, the most significant of which include housing provision, affordable housing provision, and improvements to the highway network."
Daniel Kershaw, director of Russell Homes, said:
"We are extremely pleased with the inspector's decision, particularly with his agreement with us that the proposed development is not only sustainable but also offers benefits to the area in terms of meeting housing need and improving the local highways."
The housebuilder plans to construct 113 homes at the site near Northwich after the planning inspector decided the development would have little visual impact on the surrounding environment.
