Pampered pooch to inherit house

A pet-owner in America has described how she spends $100,000 (£66,000) on pampering her beloved pooch Bella Mia.

The Maltese is treated to a weekly hair and nail appointment, and has an extensive wardrobe of over 1,000 outfits to choose from.

Owner Rose Ann Bolasny loves Bella Mia so much that she has written the dog into her Will, alongside her two sons. Bella Mia will receive the house and a trust fund that will take care of her, should anything happen to her owners.

Spoilt pets are not just an American phenomenon, and Brits spend a combined £6 billion a year on pets, and an increasing chunk of this sum is spent on luxuries previously only available to humans.

Suddenly it is fashionable for pets to be as well dressed as their humans, and John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Barbour have all started selling dog clothing and accessories.
