Medical Centre Rated Good but in Need of Improvement

A team of inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) recently carried out an inspection of Kenmore Medical Centre.

The announced inspection was carried out at the Alderley Road practice in February. Overall the centre was rated as 'Good,' however, is still described as requiring "improvement for providing safe services."

Professor Steve Field's report praised staff at the centre, stating that they were equipped with the skills, knowledge and experience to deliver effective care and treatment to patients.

Inspectors also found that there was an open and transparent approach to safety, and that an effective system was in place for reporting and recording significant events. The praise was echoed by patients who said they were treated with compassion, dignity, and respect by staff.

However, the document also identified two areas where Kenmore Medical Centre should make improvements. The report states that the practice needs to do more to ensure that its recruitment policy, procedures, and arrangements are improved to ensure all necessary employment checks are in place.

Additionally, recommendations were made that the centre should review arrangements relating to the security of blank loose leaf prescriptions.
