Free Historical property data will be available from Land Registry

It was announced earlier this month that the Land Registry will be releasing free historical data for properties throughout England and Wales as part of their commitment to the Open Data agenda.

Information will be available to download from their website under the Open Government License. Here are the datasets that will be available:

Historical House Price Index tables

Information dating back to 1995 will contain up to date indices, average house process and volume of sales. The data released for June 2013 from House Price Index has shown an annual property price increase of 0.8% meaning an average property value is now £162,621 for England and Wales.

Historical Price Paid Data

Available from July, data will contain records of all residential properties sold at full market value between 2009 and 2012 in England and Wales. The remainder of the historical price paid data will also be available covering a period from 1995 to 2008.

The 1862 Register

Leather bound ledgers containing handwritten and printed documents and maps will be available to view digitally.
