1 million fortune left by woman who lay dead 6 months

A 75 year old woman who lay dead in her flat for 6 months before being discovered, left an incredible £1million to her daughters in a Will.

The secret fortune of Agnes Brotherston was uncovered after neighbours raised the alarm reporting an odour and flies coming from her modest flat in the Lanarkshire area of Scotland.

Mrs Brotherston had not kept contact with her two daughters for several years according to a report in the Daily Mail but when her Will was published recently, she left instructions for her legacy to be split between her daughters.

Drawn up in August 2011, Agnes's Will shows that her furniture and personal effects were worth just £500 and neighbours who knew the deceased were shocked that she had amassed such wealth.

Mrs Brotherston's body was found by police when they entered the premises in Strathaven and it is thought that she had lain there since the summer.

Her flat which was worth £125,000 was just a tiny part of the inheritance, Agnes also owned another property valued at £80,000 in the same town.

As beneficiaries of the Will, daughters Helen McInnes of Glasgow and Jane Dyer who now lives in Cheshire will also receive the proceeds of bank accounts worth £350,000, together with savings totalling £265,000 and a life insurance portfolio worth £112,000.
