A two-year-old girl has been left with 'horrific' agonising cuts and a bloodied foot after wearing a pair of jelly sandals from Next for just half an hour.
Lisa Connor alleges daughter Esmé Connor suffered deep incisions to her right ankle after wearing the brand new shoes which she had received as a birthday present.
The mother-of-two shared pictures of Esmé's injuries on social media to warn other parents about the £8 sandals and has called on Next to withdraw the item from sale.
Next has agreed to collect and examine the shoes but has not commented on whether the sandals – described on Next's website as 'fun jelly sandals for short term wear only' – will be withdrawn from sale.
A spokeswoman for Next said:
"We are terribly sorry for the distress caused and we are taking this matter very seriously.
"We've asked for this pair to be returned so we can carry out a detailed inspection of this shoe, since this is the first complaint of this nature that we've received."
