Thousands of British women who were given faulty breast implants are still awaiting compensation five months after judges ruled they should get an immediate £2,600.
The interim payments are for health problems caused by the faulty implants made by French firm Poly Implant Prosthese (PIP), which contained silicone meant for mattresses.
An estimated 7,000 Brits sued German firm TUV Rheinland, who are said to have passed the implants for use without proper checks.
In May, the French Appeals Court ordered that £52m should be paid to more than 20,000 women across Europe.
But French officials, swamped by red tape and the large workload, have only paid out to around 90 women in Britain. The PIP implants were banned in 2010 and the firm collapsed, with one boss being sent to jail.
Although the PIP implants do not pose any serious immediate health risks, they are six times more likely to rupture than any other type of implant
