Teenager Injured in Hit and Run Collision

A teenager has suffered head injuries after being knocked off his bike in a hit-and-run incident in Rochdale.

The 19-year-old was cycling along Sandy Lane near Rochdale Cemetery when he was struck by a black Suzuki on the evening of Sunday, July 31.

Police officers and paramedics were scrambled to the scene, the road was closed, and the victim was rushed to hospital with head injuries. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

Witnesses took to Facebook after seeing the incident, and reported that the driver fled from the scene at speed.

The driver is now being hunted by police, and officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said:

"Police were called at around 8.25pm following a fail to stop road traffic collision. A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with head injuries. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening. Enquiries are on-going."
