Hairdresser Slips Down Wet Stone Steps on Holiday in Menorca

A hairdresser has been left with severe bruising and a lump the size of a cricket ball after slipping down a flight of nine steps at a Menorca hotel.

Lauren McGuinness, 25, from London, almost broke her back in the incident at the all-inclusive Thomson holiday resort.

She has been signed off work for six weeks due to the injuries to her back and coccyx. She claims the steps were slippery but with no wet floor signs.

Miss McGuinness also alleges that when she sought help from hotel staff they were drunk, the manager was asleep, and she was refused an ice pack.

However, Thomson denied that this had been the case, stating that first aid and an ambulance had been offered.

A spokesman from Thomson said:

"We were concerned to hear of the accident involving Miss McGuinness.

"Once staff were made aware they provided the customer with support which included the offer of medical assistance, which was declined.

"We are in direct contact with the customer to investigate and resolve the matter."
