Controversial plans to build 58 residential homes on greenfield land at the former Dean Farm site on Badger Lane have been approved by the Planning and Licensing Committee.
The planning application was put before the committee on Monday, December 4, as the updated plans represent a departure from those originally put forward.
Planning officers say the greenfield development by Taylor Wimpey "would contribute to the supply of housing in a sustainable location," and recommended that officials grant the application, subject to conditions.
A financial contribution of £350,000 has been recommended, including £178,640 to pay for the provision of additional primary school places, and £171,360 to help fund improvements at nearby Balderstone Park.
The plans have received the go-ahead despite concerns raised by residents regarding a potential flood risk and harm to local wildlife.
