First things first. What is a Compromise Agreement ? It's a legally binding document which usually provides a payment from an employer to a former employee. 

The key word being "Compromise".

The agreement will bring to a close an employer and employee's financial relationship. The employee may waive certain rights, or forgo an Employment Tribunal, in return for a larger than entitled cash settlement.  

The skill in drafting a Compromise Agreement, whether we're employed by the employee or the employer, is to assess all the possible ramifications of the compromise . It needs to be very clear and detail what is required. ie. complicated elements of confidentiality or simplistic elements such as the return of a company vehicle.

In terms of costs it's common place for an employer to cover the legal fees the employee incurs when checking the agreement. ie. the document needs two Employment solicitors. One representing each party.
