Sonnie Stow, a 24-year-old rapper and serial offender, is suing the police after being bitten by a police dog while riding a stolen motorcycle dangerously as he fled the scene of a violent attack.
Stow and Dawid Kajzer, 18, had stolen a Benelli 125 motorcycle from a car park in Hull, East Yorkshire, and were showing it off at a Burger King restaurant.
When a customer told Kajzer to get off another motorcycle he was sitting on, Stow blocked the man's path and threatened him. As Kajzer got off the bike, it fell on top of the owner, breaking his leg.
The two then sped off on the stolen motorcycle along a footpath and the wrong side of the road, followed by the police onto the city's Orchard Park estate. During the pursuit, Stow tried to escape by riding on footpaths, verges, and the wrong side of the road. Eventually, the police knocked the motorcycle over with a patrol car, resulting in Stow breaking his left leg. He was then subdued by a police dog, while Kajzer was arrested after a struggle.
At Hull Crown Court, Stow was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison and banned from driving for three years and three months. Kajzer received a six-year prison sentence and a four-year driving ban. Stow had a history of 51 previous convictions for various offenses, including robbery, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified. In September of the previous year, he had been jailed for a year for affray and possessing a blade.
Stow suffered significant injuries from the police dog's bite, including his abdomen, upper arms, and legs. He requires muscle reconstruction and a skin graft, and he is currently under the care of a plastic surgeon. His legal team has instructed solicitors to take action against the police.
Both Stow and Kajzer admitted to attempted robbery and aggravated vehicle taking on June 5. Additionally, Stow pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, while Kajzer admitted a separate burglary offense on April 14.
