A Tory Member of Parliament, Mr Christopher Davies has been spared jail after admitting to forging invoices to the amount of £700.00.
At the same time the judge warned Davies that the likely repercussions from the fraud would most likely finish both his political career and put paid to his wider aspirations.
Mr Davies purchased £700 worth of paintings for his new office and then retrospectively forged the invoices in order to submit the paperwork for reimbursement.
The MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, aged 51, was told the electorate will be left to "judge" via a recall petition whether he must face a by-election after he admitted forging the paperwork for the landsape photographs.
A Tory party spokesman said Davies had, "been given a formal warning from the Chief Whip" and further added that it was, "right that the people of Brecon and Radnorshire get to have their say about whether they still support Mr Davies".
Following the case at Southwark Crown Court it was heard that Davies, elected in 2015, was entitled to spend money on his office, but it was stated that submitting false documents was illegal.
The MP was given a £1,500 fine, ordered to pay £2,500 towards costs and instructed to carry out 50 hours' community service.
After the sentencing procedure Davies stated his intention to continue as an MP inspite of claims from the defence counsel, Thomas Forster QC, that his client's political career was "in tatters".
