Drunk Man Smashes Window, Offers to Pay for Damage

A drunk man kicked and smashed a £2,500 takeaway shop window and offered to fork out for a replacement as soon as he faced court.

Nottingham magistrates court also fined Conall Kenton £220, and said he must pay £85 prosecution costs, resulting in a total bill of £2,805.

When told of the penalty, the 20-year-old said: "I received a small inheritance when my parents passed so I can pay for the window."

The court heard that the damage was caused to the McDonald's store on Clumber Street at 2.30am on March 25.

Kenton represented himself at court, and told the magistrates:

"I just wanted to say I have never done anything like this before and don't plan to again.

"I had not drank since New Year's. I drank way above my limit and had no sense of realising what I had done much before I sobered up.

"I want to get across how very sorry I am for what has happened. I don't wish for anything like this to happen again."
