A South Wales town, Llanelli, has become a "thriving market" for Class A Drugs a court has heard, with the suggestion being that the increase in drugs related crimes has been due to "County Lines Gangs".
The coastal town of Llanelli has been targeted by gangs from both Birmingham and Liverpool who have been selling drugs such as crack and heroin.
The organised drugs gangs have been sending dealers, often young males without criminal records, to the town to sell and distribute drugs. THe suggestion being that those without previous convictions would be less likeky to be known to the Police.
The Police made Swansea Crown court aware that they knew that the teenager before the court was from Birmingham area and they believed he was linked to a county lines operation.
Having examined the defendant's phone they found numerous texts relating to drug deals over the preceding weeks and messages showing he had regular contact with a criminal drugs gang. With specific reference being made to the "Marco line."
The young defendant refused to name those who had sent him to Carmarthenshire.
