Police are investigating a wave of vehicle crime that has swept across Retford.
Vans, mostly used for work, have been targeted by criminals at least 16 times in just one week. Police say there may even be more incidents that have not been reported.
Angry victims have said they fear for their livelihoods after their work vans were raided outside their homes in the dead of night.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said:
"There has been an increase in thefts from vehicles and other types of vehicle crime and we believe this to be the targeted theft of tools.
"We have received five reports of theft from a vehicle in and around Retford on the night of September 22, eight others in East Bassetlaw between September 20 and 26 and we understand that there are others which have not been reported.
"We are also investigating criminal damage to vehicles and attempted thefts too."
Police say they are keeping an open mind about the clutch of incidents, including the theory that they may be linked.
