Are you in need of legal advice, in the Chesterfield area and trying to find a legal aid solicitor ?
There are certain situations in which individuals are eligible for legal aid. These are based on your financial circumstances and may cover all of your legal costs or only a part.
You can be eligible to get legal aid, in no particular order, for;
Welfare cases
Council Tax matters
Debt and housing problems including eviction situations
You are being harassed or are subject to discrimination
Special Education needs
Immigration and asylum applications
Terrorism Prevention
As things stand currently you won't be entitled to legal aid if your gross monthly income is in excess of £2,657.00. Your net disposable income should not be more than £733 per month.
Additionally you won't be eligible for legal aid if you have savings in excess of £8,000. A persons age and their property assets are also included within the calculations.
With respect to legal aid for crime and criminal matters you have the right to free independent advice from a duty solicitor at the Police Station.
