Police are investigating hooligans who put lives at risk by throwing objects at cars from bridges in Derby. Officers are aware of four incidents taking place in the city in the same afternoon.
One of the victims was Katie McCarron, who was driving from Chellaston Academy to her home in Spondon, when two people threw a block of concrete from a bridge over the A6.
The 17-year-old, who only passed her driving test in November, said the concrete landed on her roof and caused significant damage to her vehicle. She claims if it had dropped onto her windscreen, she could have been killed.
Speaking about the incident, she said:
"I saw two people who I thought looked like teenagers on the bridge as I was driving home and I wondered what they were doing.
"Then there was a really loud bang as something landed on top of my roof. It was very shocking and I was terrified.
"I was very scared and I thought I would lose control of the car, but thankfully I managed to stay in control. I could have ended up swerving all over the place and it could have created chaos."
Ms McCarron said she has contacted the police about the incident.
