A court has heard allegations that a female police officer bombarded a convicted burglar with threatening texts following the end of their three-week relationship. According to prosecutors, PC Miriam Virgo reacted strongly when Carl Cserfalvi-Young ended their romance, purportedly telling him he was a "dead-man walking."
The 43-year-old serving Thames Valley Police officer is accused of using a website that allows users to send anonymous texts for payment to threaten Mr. Cserfalvi-Young. Prosecutors claim that PC Virgo sent "gangster-style" texts, warning him that his days were "numbered" and even extending the threats to his mother in an alleged attempt to intimidate them both.
In one message, PC Virgo reportedly mentioned having people watching out for her and conveyed a warning purportedly from her cousins, stating, "of all the people you could have f---ed over you picked the wrong one." She allegedly escalated the threats, indicating a readiness to resort to violence.
The court heard that the relationship between PC Virgo and Mr. Cserfalvi-Young began in May 2022 at a pub in Reading, Berkshire, shortly after Mr. Cserfalvi-Young's release from prison for burglary.
PC Virgo denies sending the anonymous messages attributed to her and argues that the other communications do not constitute harassment. The trial is ongoing, and further proceedings will follow.
