A man is facing charges of attempted murder in the aftermath of a violent incident at a sports event in Derby.
Police were summoned to a kabaddi match held on Elvaston Lane in Alvaston at approximately 15:50 BST on Sunday.
Four individuals sustained injuries, with one of them suffering severe harm. They were all transported to a hospital but were later discharged.
The 33-year-old suspect, along with a 23-year-old man, is also being charged with firearm possession and engaging in violent disorder.
The Derbyshire Police characterized the events at the gathering as a "large-scale disturbance."
Kabaddi is a sport with origins in India, where two teams of seven players take turns sending a raider into the other team's territory, attempting to tag members of the opposing team, and then returning "home" without being obstructed by the other side.
In connection with this incident, a total of 12 individuals have now been apprehended, according to the police.
Seven men, aged 24, 28, 34, two at 38, 40, and 44, were taken into custody on suspicion of engaging in violent disorder.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, violent disorder, and possession of a class A drug.
Furthermore, a 36-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder and violent disorder.
All of these individuals have been granted bail while investigations into the matter continue, as per the police's statement.
