Woman breastfeeding her baby told to cover up with dirty dish cloth

A mother of four was out with two friends at the Furze Wren pub owned by JD Wetherspoon's in Kent enjoying a late breakfast.

Olivia Pozniak, 25, single mother, was breastfeeding her 11 week old son when she was asked by a member of staff to cover up.

Olivia said: "I was having a late breakfast with two friends and Louis needed feeding - so I fed him. To me it's all the same, syringe, boob, bottle - you're just feeding your baby."

The mother stood up and asked the surrounding customers if they were offended by her breastfeeding. The response seemingly was 'no'.

She has now created a Facebook page, 'Wetherspoons boob and bottle feed', aimed at all mothers who feel strongly about this matter.

The equality act which came in 2010 states women are allowed to breastfeed in public. More than 50 women have replied to the invites on Facebook and one lady commented on the page saying "He broke the law under the Equality Act. It's the same law that makes racism illegal. This is a big deal for someone trying to do what's best for their baby."

A Wetherspoon spokesman said: 'We apologise wholeheartedly to the lady. This should never have happened. Our pubs are welcoming to mothers who wish to breastfeed their children.
