Tenants Battling With the Highest Rental Costs on Record

New figures from LSL Property Services suggest tenants' finances are at their best since records at the company began in 2008.

The report also shows only 7.1% of rent repayments were late in October. These figures also show that the average rent in England and Wales was up £1 to £758 a month during October (which shows a £67 a month increase over the last three years).

Additionally the statistics show that the average rent in London is now £1,156 per month.

LSL say that the low percentage in late repayments is down as a consequence of better budgeting by tenants, professional landlords and greater levels of support available to those who are struggling.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders found repossession rates are now at the lowest level in five years.

The figures seem to conclude that people are meeting housing costs even if they are battling with energy costs and other rising bills.
