As more and more "public exchanges" are occurring we could potentially see a rise in the number of employment law issues affecting the footballers, say the Law Gazette.
The content of conversations between Managers and Players were not made public, at one time, however now they are made available to the media.
The article in The Law Gazette explains that these criticisms of player's courage or professionalism could have an effect on the trust and confidence between the employer and employee and may in turn affect their 'saleability' later in their career.
We all know the relationships the players have with their managers is not what you would expect from 'normal' employment, however could these comments still be taken as a repudiatory breach of contract?
Why are they any different to criticisms of 9-5 office workers ? The article says the 'normal' employee doesn't receive a 5 year fixed term, full sick pay when injured or the inability to be sacked when they are not working to a satisfactory level.
The report says that when footballer's contracts come into line with "normal" employment contracts, only then can they have the same employment rights as everyday workers.
