Masked thugs armed with a gun smashed through the window of a car during a terrifying attack in south Manchester.
Just minutes later another group of men - all armed with knives - attacked a driver as he sat in his car.
The two incidents happened just minutes apart, less than two miles away from each other, on Sunday night. Detectives say nobody was seriously injured and they believe the two incidents may be linked.
The first incident happened at around 8:30pm in Levenshulme, when the gang of men approached the driver and threatened him with knives.
At 8:45, three men in balaclavas pulled up on West Grove in Longsight. One of the men was carrying a gun and the group smashed the window of a car with a sledgehammer.
Detective Inspector Brian Morley, of Greater Manchester Police's City of Manchester Team, said:
"We are investigating two reports of men armed with weapons from the same evening and are treating the incidents as linked.
"Fortunately no-one was seriously injured but we need to catch and stop these men.
"If you saw a Nissan X-Trail in Levenshulme or Longsight on Sunday evening or witnessed any of the incidents, I urge you to get in touch with police."
