Gun Fired During Brawl in Rusholme

A gun was fired during a large brawl on Rusholme's Curry Mile in the early hours of Sunday.

It is understood that a man approached a group of people brawling on Wilmslow Road before pulling out a gun and firing what police believe were blanks.

People living near the area reported hearing gun shots. Police were called at 4:10am but there have been no reports of injuries.

The incident happened between Walmer Street and Thurlow Street, with numerous residential streets nearby. Police have launched an investigation but believe it to be an isolated incident.

Waleed Khan, who works at Spice Kitchen close to where the incident happened, said:

"There was an argument going on outside and someone had a gun in his hand. The CID officers came by earlier asking what happened and to see if we had any CCTV. Unfortunately we only have CCTV for inside and not outside.

"I was very shocked and surprised by what happened. This is normally a quiet, family place where people come with their children."
