A man found in possession of cocaine valued at £114,000 was apprehended during a routine traffic stop on the M6 in Cheshire.
On Monday, April 17, at approximately 1:40 pm, Alexander Stacey was driving a black Vauxhall Insignia when police officers pulled him over on the M6's junction 18 slip road. The officers on patrol identified his untaxed vehicle, which led to the traffic stop.
Subsequently, Stacey, a 27-year-old resident of Devereux Road in Wiltshire, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He entered a guilty plea during an earlier hearing and appeared before Chester Crown Court on Thursday, October 5, where he received a prison sentence of three years and nine months.
Detective Sergeant Laura Fox highlighted the compelling evidence amassed by the investigative team, which left Stacey with little choice but to plead guilty to the charges. She acknowledged the collaborative efforts of PC Harry Bayley from the Macclesfield Area Investigation Team and all other officers involved in the case, underscoring the significance of police stop checks.
The seemingly routine stop check yielded the seizure of a substantial quantity of class A drugs. Stacey now finds himself incarcerated, facing the consequences of his actions. DS Laura Fox expressed the hope that Stacey's sentence would serve as a stern warning to potential wrongdoers and emphasized that Cheshire law enforcement is committed to apprehending and bringing criminals to justice.
