UK Passengers Top List for Highest Number of Complaints

According to data from the international flight claims compensation company, refund.me, UK passengers topped the list for the highest number of complaints.

Compensation claims processed by refund.me for flight delays, cancellations and overbookings reached a record level during the peak summer holiday season from June to September 2015. In that four month period, claims were made against a total of 161 airlines, with UK passengers lodging claims against 96 of them.

Eve Buchner, founder and CEO of refund.me, said:

"Our study confirms the trend for an increase in complaints over travel-intensive holiday seasons. While the data is a snapshot from the UK and select European countries, it highlights that overall, charter and low-cost airlines consistently underperform in comparison to scheduled carriers. Passengers endure more travel disruption and we are seeing a significant upsurge in passengers asserting their rights to compensation under EU law."

Spanish low-cost airline Vueling received 11 per cent of all claims, followed by Easyjet with 8 per cent, Ryanair with 5 per cent, Air France with 3.5 per cent and British airways with 3 per cent.
