Patient Left with Lump of Filler in Her Face after Botched Procedure

A woman claims she was left with a lump of filler under the skin beneath her eye after her GP allegedly botched a cosmetic procedure.

Adrienne Townsend, 29, from Cumbria, paid her GP £425 to carry out a private 'tear trough treatment' to reduce the bags under her eyes.

Tear trough fillers involve placing filler under the skin beneath the eyes to refresh dark circles or tired-looking eyes.

But she says the procedure left her with a 'pea-sized lump' on the left side of her face, forcing her to pay out for corrective treatment.

She also alleges that Dr Javiera, who performed the procedure, offered her a refund if she signed a contract promising to keep the incident a secret.

A spokesman for Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group – the organisation that buys services from GPs on behalf of residents across the area – said:

"We are not aware of any individual complaint of this nature being brought to our attention.

"Any patient can contact us if they have a concern. Details of how to report a concern can be found on the Morecambe Bay CCG website."
