Cars and Jewellery Bought Using Compensation Payment Made to Brain Damaged Daughter

Accusations have been made against the parents of a brain damaged teenager who was awarded £2.6m in compensation due to medical negligence.

Miss Svendsen, due to medical negligence, now suffers from cerebral palsy and needs 24-hour care.

It's said her parents pocketed £500,000 in total which should have been set aside for Miss Svendsen.

Additionally they were even given £4,000 a month to compensate them as "full time carers" for their daughter as they would no longer be able to work themselves.

Miss Svendsen, though, did not see all of the money awarded to her. Instead, luxury goods, property, cars and jewellery were purchased with the compensation money.

Miss Robinson, prosecuting the case, reported that the parents were, "behaving as though they had won the lottery."

When she asked "Did you [and your wife] ever have conversations about the rights and wrongs of what you were doing?" Mr Hills' reply was, "I don't recall any such conversations."

Not only did her mother plead not guilty to four offences of theft and one of transferring criminal property at Doncaster Crown Court but she doesn't feel they have done any wrong. 

Mr Hills however has admitted four offences of theft.
