Question. Why does the legal marketplace need brands & branding ?

Possible answer. So lawyers can fee earn.

Slightly more detailed answer.

In general terms solicitors want to focus on generating business and revenue for their respective  firms.

Most lawyers didn't wake up early one morning, in their youth, and say, "Mummy, I want to be a legal professional & therefore I shall need you to buy me a book on marketing".

It might sound flippant but family lawyers tend to want to help people, conveyancers like being shouted at by ungrateful clients and personal injury lawyers want to help people & make money.

The issue is how the respective firms set their marketing stall out. Do they try to create their own marketing "style / brand" or do they join a franchise like Quality Solicitors and pay a big chunk of money, up front, and then a smaller amount each month ? 

Over the course of 2012 we've read about numerous chaps who set up legal brands intending to have "60" firms onboard in the first year. Possibly with a £20k upfront fee and  a request for a £2,000 per month retainer, for undisclosed back end services and "group marketing", thrown in.

There is definitely money to be made by marketing companies supporting lawyers. The question is whether the current models work for law firms and lawyers.

Our perspective is simple.

We offer a National identity for a low £200 + VAT per month fee. If you then decide to purchase other marketing items from us displaying the National Solicitors brand then we'll charge for them at normal, commercial, rates.

In the first instance we'd simply provide a corporate website, complete with the NS brand, and link it to your domain name. We'd then carry out SEO work, Search Engine Optimisation, to get the site seen by your target audience.

If you then decide you want to work with us on printed letterheads, cards etc then we can supply that for you.

We'll offer a range of services and marketing products and you cherry pick the items you want. Nice and simple.
