According to surveyors, rising house prices and activity are no longer confined to London but are seen across the whole of the UK.
Peter Bolton King, global residential director at RICS said, "This is the first time that everywhere has experienced some improvement."
According to RICS, the number of first time buyers grew at the fastest rate in four years. House building is also at its highest since 2008 as a result of the equity loan scheme. It seems to have given confidence to house builders to build new properties.
Reasons for the pickup include:
The new Government help for the housing
The Help to Buy scheme
The new Funding for Lending scheme
All these have certainly helped the economy. "We certainly feel that Funding for Lending has made a big difference," Mr Bolton said. This scheme allows the Bank of England to lend money to the banks, providing the banks lend it on to businesses or individuals.
According to the Land Registry, on average it will now cost you £250,101 to buy a flat across England and Wales.
