The first divorce in Britain to arise from the Ashley Madison data leak has been set in motion following a married woman's discovery of her partner's details.
A specialist family lawyer in Manchester has revealed a married woman has been in contact with the firm Mills & Reeve LLP seeking legal advice after discovering her husband's details among the millions of leaked accounts released by hackers this month.
Nigel Shepherd, a partner at family law firm Mills & Reeve LLP, said:
"If someone finds out if their partner is set up on a site which exists wholly for facilitating adultery, it's hardly surprising they are taking advice about it."
The 14GB data dump, which was uploaded to the "dark web", enabled hackers to release the information while simultaneously covering their tracks and evading the authorities.
