A prisoner escaped from Compass House in Gloucestershire after asking a guard if he could go outside for some fresh air.
Christopher Young, 29, who was being held at the 50-cell complex following his arrest, is the first inmate to escape the new multimillion-pound custody suite in Quedgeley.
At the time of his escape, he was being interviewed by police when he asked for time in the exercise yard for some fresh air. He then scaled a door and climbed the perimeter fence, escaping the grounds. He was caught 300 yards from the complex and put back into police custody.
The case was heard at Gloucester Crown Court earlier this month. The prosecution told the court: "Young used a door to lever himself up and over the first fence and then he took some time to scale the perimeter fence before making his escape."
They added: "But he was only able to get about 300 yards away from the police station complex at Waterwells when he was caught and arrested by officers."
However, Lloyd Jenkins acting for the defence said that Young was disgruntled because he felt he had been wrongly arrested. Allegedly the warrant for his arrest had been dropped but this was not acknowledged on the system.
Jenkins added: "Young saw an opportunity in the exercise yard. He was, at that time, an aggrieved and disgruntled individual because he felt he had been wrongly arrested."
Young pleaded guilty to unlawful escape and was sentenced to six weeks in prison.
The incident, which occurred earlier this year in May, has prompted police to review the security within Compass House. A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "The force has reviewed security within the custody environment and has invested in measures to prevent this type of incident happening again."
