Almost two thirds of staff at Countess of Chester Hospital have said that they feel under pressure to attend work when they themselves are ill.
The findings were revealed by a confidential NHS Staff Survey carried out between October and December 2016. The annual survey covered all hospital staff, not just doctors and nurses.
In the previous three months 64% said they had attended work despite being sick, due to pressure from managers, colleagues, or themselves. A third of staff also admitted to feeling unwell due to work-related pressure in the last year.
Countess director of people and organisational director Sue Hodkinson said:
"We are grateful to all those working at the Countess who took the time to complete the detailed survey.
"It is always helpful to understand what, if anything, has changed in terms of staff satisfaction and what we can do about it here at the hospital.
"We all recognise the current pressures facing the NHS and we are committed to doing everything we can to support the health and wellbeing of those working here."
