Plans are expected to be submitted in May that will completely transform the Winsford Industrial Estate in Middlewich, Cheshire. The expansion plan includes a 40-room hotel, a pub restaurant, petrol station, fast food outlet and a drive-thru coffee shop.
The planning director at Q & A Planning, Ruth Child, informed councillors of the masterplan at Winsford Town Council's planning committee meeting. Ms Child told councillors that if the plan is approved, new local jobs would be created and already people had shown interest in the plots.
Mrs Child stated:
"The aim is to create a bit of a gateway into the estate and improve the frontage."
Full plans are expected to include landscaping, new roads, cable realignment and a large newt mitigation area.
Ms Child went onto say:
"The complementary commerical facilities would attract the right sort of users to the estate and add something for those users who are already there."
During the meeting, the council's planning committee made no formal comments. However, the committee did make recommendations, suggesting further additions to the proposed plan. The additions suggested were a truck stop to alleviate parking concerns and a supermarket petrol filling station to ensure fuel prices are reasonable.
The plan will be subject to a statutory consultation and residents will have the opportunity to make objections and raise any concerns.
