Ellesmere Port Development Board Celebrates 5th Anniversary

A milestone anniversary sees the regeneration chief involved in London's Docklands, Liverpool's Albert Dock, and Salford's MediaCity, taking the reins for the future of Ellesmere Port.

Robert Mee has stepped down as deputy chairman of the Ellesmere Port Development Board, with Londoner Chris Farrow filling the position.

The board was established in 2010, during the recession, in a drive to promote the economic development and prosperity of the town. Since then the board, headed by Mr Mee, has helped to deliver housing, employment growth and support for local businesses.

Mr Farrow's appointment comes as the board celebrates its fifth anniversary. Mr Farrow's past achievements include regeneration success stories in London Docklands, and more recently in MediaCity, Salford.

In Salford he helped to secure over £3billion of investment, including the BBC's presence at the site. He said:

"I am really proud of the progress that has been achieved over the last five years in Ellesmere Port.

"It owes much to the efforts of the board's private and public sector partners, the council's support and Robert Mee's energy and leadership. The pressure is now on to maintain this success."
