A five-bedroomed mansion just outside of Tarvin could be yours for just £5 after its owners decided to raffle the property off.
Helena and John Rowton initially put Burton Hall on the market in 2014, and they hoped the Elizabethan property would fetch its £1.875 million price tag.
The house, which was used as a filming location for TV's The Forsyte Saga, received several viewings but failed to sell.
After Helena started to suffer with ill health, son Ben came up with a novel approach to sell the property. He said, "We came up with a highly unusual competition in which a £5 ticket will enable one lucky person to win Burton Hall."
The family is hoping to raise £2.5 million to cover the cost of the house, legal fees, and to provide a bonus £50,000 cash prize to the winner.
Ben said:
"Burton Hall is a home which combines a feeling of great age, grandeur and history with a satisfactory compromise of 21st century comforts and amenities.
"It has appeared in several publications and featured in The Forsyte Saga as well as numerous commercials in 2010 it won a Civic Award, sponsored by English Heritage, for Best Restoration in Cheshire."
