A huge multi-million pound development on the edge of Ellesmere Port town centre has taken a further step towards completion.
Regeneration developer St Modwen secured planning permission for 350 new family homes on the former HH Robertson brownfield site on Cromwell Road.
Now, Essex-based homebuilders Countryside Properties have secured detailed approval for the first phase of development, involving 98 properties for the private sector.
Sophia Fleming, business development manager at Countryside Properties, said:
"This represents a significant investment in an area that has seen precious little development for a number of years. The delivery of this first phase will act as a catalyst not only for the future phases of the Cromwell Road site but Ellesmere Port as a whole."
As well as new family homes, the development will also include substantial areas of public open space, footpaths, cycle links, and improved accessibility to Ellesmere Port railway station and the town centre.
St Modwen said that the development was expected to bring around 500 construction jobs to the area.
