Cash and carry giant, Bestway Group, has relaunched its first two Well pharmacies in the UK after The Co-operative Pharmacy purchase last year.
Bestway Group is currently in the process of rolling out the Well brand across their entire pharmacy estate, which they purchased last summer from The Co-op Group for £620 million. The first two Well pharmacies are located in Chester and Chorlton, with the remaining 778 branches expected to be open by autumn.
John Nuttall, chief executive of Well, said:
"Community pharmacies can play a key role in easing the increasingly unsustainable pressures faced by frontline NHS services, beyond simply providing prescriptions.
"Ensuring more people make better use of the advice, services and products at Well, we can support the NHS in treating minor ailments and managing lifestyle health issues such as smoking and weight - relieving pressure on key NHS services."
The Co-operative Group first put its pharmacies up for sale in February 2014, hoping to pay off some of its £1.4 billion debt with the proceeds of the sale.
