Plans to develop a £700 million residential and commercial development in Salford have been approved by Salford city council.
Phase one of the £700 million Middlewood Locks waterfront development, a joint venture between China-based Hualing Group and Singaporean Metro Holdings Limited, has been given approval by Salford city council. The development is centered around three large basins of the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal in Salford.
Lee Savage, development director at Scarborough Group International, said:
"This is fantastic news. Over the past year, we have worked closely with the members and officers of Salford City Council and consulted with all the local communities and interested groups to achieve this milestone for Middlewood Locks.
"We can now concentrate on delivering a development of which Salford and Greater Manchester can be truly proud."
Construction of the first phase of Middlewood Locks is due to begin early next year, with residents expected to move into the 571 available homes during mid-2017.
