Family wins compensation after holiday nightmare

A family who suffered the holiday from hell have been awarded £3,200 in compensation.

Sue Hilton, from Chesterfield, traveled to the Flamingo Beach Resort with her mother and two children earlier this year to enjoy a family holiday.

However, the experience was not all they had hoped it to be. Food in the hotel restaurant was served lukewarm, undercooked, and often left uncovered for periods of time.

Miss Hilton also reported seeing cockroaches near the eating areas, birds flying around the indoor restaurants, and flies landing on the food.

Four days into the holiday Miss Hilton's daughter, then 12-years-old, began suffering from stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea. A few days later, as the family returned home, Miss Hilton began experiencing similar symptoms.

Once back in the country Miss Hilton contacted her tour operator, First Choice, to lodge a complaint against the hotel. After several offers, including vouchers towards another holiday, the family accepted £3,200 in compensation.
