Southport parents have been left furious after their son cut his hand while playing on the climbing frame at a local park.
The incident happened when one-year-old Connor Peacock-Howard was playing at Compton Park, on Compton Road, with his parents on Sunday July 2.
His parents, Richard Howard and Samantha Peacock, said Connor ran straight to the climbing frame but began crying when he reached the first platform.
Connor had cut his hand on small fragments of glass lying on the platform. Luckily the injury did not require stitches and a doctor said there did not appear to be any glass in the wound.
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said:
"On Monday morning we were notified, via Facebook, that a young child had cut their hand on the climbing unit at Compton Park on Sunday evening.
"Officers attended the Southport site within an hour and found very small shards of broken glass which were swept away making the site safe for immediate use again."
However, Samantha claimed she returned to the park the following morning to find that all the glass was still there. The family say they will not use the park again, unless it is safe for children.
