Burscough Stadium Plans to Get Green Light

Plans to build a new football stadium look set to get the go-ahead, despite objections from parties including the parish council.

West Lancs Borough Council (WLBC) are likely to approve the plans at a committee meeting this evening, November 10, after a planning committee report recommended granting permission.

The plans will see a new 500-seater stadium built next to the existing Victoria Park, off Mart Lane.

Although objections have been raised, Burscough FC says the new stadium will bring great benefits to the wider community.

They say the new facilities will improve the match day experience for players and supporters alike, will be more energy efficient, and will feature floodlights that will be less intrusive to the surrounding area.

Currently, the pitch is only used for women's football cup finals, but the new and improved facilities would allow greater use by women's teams, as well as by local colleges and Edge Hill University under a new academy system.

A final decision will be made this evening, November 10, at the Council Chamber, Derby Street in Ormskirk.
