A petition calling for traffic calming measures on the A59, which was created by a Burscough resident, has gained the backing of MP Rosie Cooper.
The petition calls for the council to review the safety measures on the A59 from Rufford through Burscough village, in the hope of making the road safer.
Resident Stacey Boden was prompted to create the petition following an accident involving 15-year-old Georgia Addy who was struck by a van on the road several weeks ago. She is currently recovering from her injuries in Alder Hey Hospital.
Amanda Lucas, whose family has lived on the road for 70 years, said "There should be speed calming measures down Moss Lane, the 30mph zone is blatantly ignored by most people."
West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
"My thoughts and prayers are with Georgia Addy and her parents at this desperately difficult time for the family.
"On several occasions I have raised residents' concerns regarding traffic speed issues along Moss Lane, most recently this summer.
"At the end of 2015 a speed survey was undertaken by Lancashire County Council with Lancashire Police agreeing to periodic speed enforcement action, which they have carried out.
"In the most recent replies having raised residents' concerns with the authorities, Lancashire County Council have committed to reviewing Moss Lane at the Speed Tasking Group to consider additional enforcement action."
