Emergency services were called after a woman fell down a hole which had opened up in the pavement in South West London.
The woman, believed to be in her forties, was taken to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service after she fell into the hole and fortunately, was not seriously injured in the accident.
The area around the hole, where a man had fallen down and twisted his ankle earlier, had been barricaded off with tables and chairs by cafe staff in an effort to stop people walking across it. However, despite shouts from staff members, the woman squeezed through the chairs with her shopping trolley and proceeded to fall down the hole.
Mohammad Atillah, a worker at the cafe, said:
"I could see a small hole. I put the tables and chairs so no-one would come through.
"A lady was passing down the street, she came into the middle of the tables and fell down the hole."
The council have now cordoned off the area after Mr Atillah helped her reach the floor of the basement under the cafe, where she walked back to the surface via the stairs.
