New Farnworth Bus Station Gets Green Light

Plans for a new bus station in Farnworth have been given the green light by council chiefs.

The plans, for a new bus station at the existing King Street site, were submitted by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and have been approved by Bolton Council.

It will include modern bus shelters, enhanced passenger safety and security features, parking for bicycles, and improved signage and on-site travel information.

Councillor Andrew Fender, chairman of the TfGM Committee, said:

"I'm delighted that our plans for the redevelopment of Farnworth Bus Station have been approved by Bolton Council.

"A new, improved bus station will play an important role in supporting Bolton Council's vision for the regeneration of Farnworth's town centre."

Bolton Council expects work on the bus station to start in early 2018, with the site open for use in summer 2018. During construction, temporary bus stops will be located as close to the existing facility as possible.
