A judge has ruled that the American wife of London financier Sir Chris Hohn is entitled to a third of his wealth, not half, in a ruling on their High Court divorce case.
It had previously been revealed that Jamie Cooper-Hohn would receive around £337 million, before details were known regarding the exact size of Sir Chris's fortune. Recently it has emerged that he had assets worth roughly £1 billion.
Mrs Cooper-Hohn had argued that she was entitled to half of their assets, with Sir Chris offering a quarter, arguing that he had made a special contribution to their wealth throughout their marriage.
Mrs Justice Roberts settled between the two arguments, accepting that Sir Chris was the "generating force" behind their financial success, and that his "financial genius" justified not splitting his assets equally.
The sum is thought to be the largest of its kind made by a judge in England. The couple divorced after 17 years of marriage.
