Just six months after he stepped onto British soil, the first Romanian immigrant to land at Luton Airport on New Years Day has slammed the country for being 'too expensive'.
With high hopes and dreams of making his fortune in the UK, Victor Spirescu arrived in London to a warm welcome by Labour Party Politician, Keith Vaz.
Mr Vaz was pictured in newspapers greeting Mr Spirescu as he became the first Romanian to arrive in Britain following relaxation of Border Controls.
With beaming smiles, the pair enjoyed a Costa Coffee together as the Romanian discussed his plans for his future in Britain with Mr Vaz.
Telling reporters in January that he wasn't here to 'rob our country' and adding that he wanted to get a job and earn money to go back to his Translyvanian pig and sheep farm with his wife.
However, in six short months, Mr Spirescu's view of our country has changed and as he told BBC Radio 4's Today Show, "I haven't saved any money, it is very expensive here".
Going on to tell the show, "I want to go home, but I haven't saved any money. The system is wrong, I pay too much tax, too much money for travel and rent. It is too expensive to live in London".
Mr Spirescu began his working life in Britain washing cars on an Aldi car park in Bedfordshire but quit his job after just one day to work on a building site.
