Ten nurses have been suspended from the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend as fears grow of a scandal threatening to overshadow the scale of Mid Staffs.
Currently under investigation by the police, the South Wales hospital has been rocked by reports of deaths and poor care.
Campaigners in support of families who have been affected by the standards of care at the hospital have been fighting for a full inquiry, but remain shocked by the news of the suspensions.
Speaking in the Daily Mail, Gareth Williams who has set up a support group commented to reporters that "The suspension of ten nurses is shocking news".
"I have always said that the scale of the scandal at the hospital is enormous, but people have been slow to listen".
Speaking from his own personal experience, Mr Williams mother Lilllian, an 82 year old amputee, died while she was a patient at the Princess of Wales Hospital in 2012.
Mr Williams added, "She was starved and neglected by staff for days and died a horrible death".
Since the Welsh Government ordered an inquiry into the scandal it has been revealed that five of those suspended nurses were responsible for the care of Lillian Williams.
Alleging that his mother's medication had been tampered with, Mr Williams has evidence from other relatives of drugs being administered without being prescribed.
Concerned that the problems are not just confined to the Princess of Wales, the campaigner believes it is a wider issue also involving Morriston and Singleton hospitals.
"I am getting told about two or three suspicious deaths every month at the three hospitals and we know that this neglect stretches back at least four to five years".
More recently it emerged that the Bridgend hospital has just agreed a compensation settlement with the family of Basil Hewins, who died after being treated there two years ago.
